Recommended Thermometers - Fertility Awareness Method

This is a list of thermometers that are used by members of the community. If you have a BBT (basal body thermometer) that you love and it is not listed, please contact us and we will add it (also mention if it has any special features that you like). And if you find that any of these links do not work (Amazon does not always have availability) please let us know and we will update. You can send a message to our Facebook page.

Note that you should be purchasing a BBT which records temps to one decimal place (0.1) for Fahrenheit (most digital BBT will record to 2 decimal places, but only the first decimal is used for F charting – round or truncate your temps according to your chosen method) or to two decimal places (0.05) for Celsius (temps must be rounded to the nearest .05°C for all Celsius methods).

As always, we strongly recommend you read a FAM manual or seek instruction from a FAM educator to learn the method thoroughly before relying on it for birth control

Note that whilst we love the Kindara App for chart recording, we do not recommend their ‘Wink’ bluetooth thermometer since it has proven to be of poor quality and unlikely to last twelve months. We allso DO NOT RECOMMENDED the Daysy or Ava, see here for more details.

Tempdrop

Tempdrop (TD) is an overnight wearable thermometer that has become very popular as it removes the need to have good temping practices. Simply put the device on each evening and go to sleep. TD automatically filters out restless sleep and provides you with one temp from the night. It is particularly helpful for those with erratic sleep schedules (breastfeeding, insomnia, etc).

iSnow / Easy@Home / Eudemon / BabyMad / Sure (F and C)

This comes under several different brand names and is very popular in the group. It has a backlight (the only BBT I have found so far to have a backlight), an alarm, it beeps quietly and not relentlessly (so doesn’t wake a sleeping partner), and stores 60 temps in its memory (with time and date). It has a sturdy tip which is ideal for vaginal temping. Click here to see a video clip of it in action.
