NOTE: Pursuing Adoption is intentionally left out because a couple could choose to adopt regardless of their fertility intentions (ie. needing to avoid for physical health reasons but still wanting to grow their family ect.)
TTC – Trying To Conceive
TTW – Trying to Whatever
TTA – Trying to Avoid
10 TTC – Actively TTC and charting – Intentional unprotected intercourse every month in the fertile window when able. Would pursue all acceptable/ethical fertility treatments or procedures if felt needed.
9 TTC – Actively TTC and charting – Intentional unprotected intercourse every month in the fertile window when able. Would consider some but not all fertility treatments if needed.
8 TTC – TTC May or May not be charting. Excited to start/grow a family. Unprotected intercourse every month in the fertile window when able. But would not use any fertility treatments.
7 TTW/loosely TTC – May or May not be charting, aware of fertile times, Baby very welcome (future TTC).
6 TTW – (aka “nt/np” Not trying/not preventing”) May or may not be charting/charting only for health/curiosity unprotected intercourse happens whenever couple pleases. Baby very welcome.
5 TTW/loosely TTA – charting – some known risks are taken. Baby happily welcome. “Whatever happens, happens”.
4 TTA – Charting. Not taking risks, content with current family size but a surprise baby would be happily welcomed.
3 TTA – Charting. Not taking risks – if pregnancy should occur: “Oh NO this is bad! – but everything will be okay” the baby will be welcomed.
2 TTA – Charting. Not taking risks – and perhaps being more conservative. if pregnancy should occur – Would need some time to accept pregnancy/ maybe counseling. Keeping the baby.
1 TTA – May or may not be charting if able – unprotected intercourse is extremely rare or non-existent to avoid pregnancy – would keep the baby or would possibly consider placing baby for adoption.
0 TTA – May or may not be charting if able, complete abstinence from all intercourse for the time being to avoid any chance of pregnancy.
